Finalising my collection

layed out all my collection to decide which I want to put in my final collection. I feel that I have a lot of strong prints which I i'm really pleased about. Now I just need to roll hem all my fabrics to give them a nice finish.

Lights, camera...action

Today I had a photoshoot at university. It went really well as I could see which samples linked together and if they would be in my final collection.

Printing

So I have been in the print room all day trying to finalize some prints for a photoshoot I have on wednesday at uni. This is one of my prints,I have masked bits out to give a geometric look but I feel it looks unfinished,
so i'm going to print another layer on top.

Weaving

So I have finally started weaving which I im happy about. To begin with I decided to do plain weave as you can see in the image below. I feel it looks really good especially the vibrant yellow against the dark blue. The use of jersey yarn looks really quirky.

Studio

Here is a picture of my workspace at university. My work is inspired by African tribal art and make up looks I have created on my sister. I have been doing a lot of textural art work using feathers, paint, oil pastels, glass paint etc.

Winding my warp

Started winding my warp up which I am finding very fiddly as im using a silk yarn doubled up which is very fine. I i'm learning from my mistakes which is good and will help me in the future.

Common Purpose

I did a four day leadership course with Common Purpose. I really enjoyed meeting new people and interacting with a variety of speakers. I came away with many good skills that will help me in the future.
